ha! so i'm sure that everyone has just been chomping at the bit while waiting for me to write another post. well here you go!
things that have happened since January 4th:
- January 4th in the PM: i gave up my new years resolution =)
- i traveled to CA in February for work
- i didn't eat for 30 hours & participated in my church's 30 Hour Famine to support hunger throughout the world
- i've been to about 1,334,439 horse shows that my sister has ridden in (not really that many but quite a few!)
- i helped build a ramp for project-mend-a-house in March
- i went wine tasting for the first time (oh so much fun!!!)
- i went with my mom to The Farms at Potowmack for a gluten-free cooking class
- i helped a pregnant friend weed & plant flowers
- i became a first-time home buyer in April!!! (pictures to come) **
- i traveled in May to CO for work
- i attended the 6th annual "Bauserman canoeing weekend"!
- i went to Corolla, NC for a week =)
- i saw Riverdance live for the first time (and apparently last time in the U.S.)
as you can see - i have been quite busy in the last 6 months & a lot of times, i don't feel i have anything interesting to say so i don't blog. =)
** another post to come in a new series called "hey you bought an old house so you'll have projects to do / issues to resolve for the rest of your life!"

new year!
so i may be 3 days late in posting my "new year's resolution" but i'm not a fan of getting on the computer at home any more for some reason.
this year - i'd like to not watch t.v. during the week day except for Friday nights, Saturday & Sunday's (unless I'm off work for an unknown reason). i think that if i chose to find other activities to do at night during the week & let my (relatively expensive) DVR tape the shows i'd like to watch during the weekend - then i will feel less sedentary. I'd like to walk abby each night for longer, work out, read, clean, etc.
mom doesn't think this will last very long & that may be the case, but i'd like to do it just for me, not for anyone else.

MORE projects...(catching you up)
to begin with catching you all up on the dresser...here is the picture of the painted "dresser". i'm still working on painting the drawers, and i've gotten two coats of yellow on both of them. i need them to dry so i can paint the inside brown.

monday, i found an "antique" table top & two legs outside by the curb. well, someone else's trash is someone else's treasure, right?
problem is: the table only had two legs, weird, huh? so i had to figure out what to do with it to make it stand up. well i didn't need another tall table, so i decided that i would have mi padre cut the two legs in half, and i would create a coffee table. sweet =)

here is the table top with 4 legs.
well - let me just show you what the living room looked like as i was working on this project...
lets just say - that is THE hardest wood i have ever dealt with. screws would not even go into it. i had to gorilla glue the base together so that i could screw the legs to the base. that's still a work in progress.
more to come as i finish up some things, hopefully this week...

a little paint can go a long way
so i read other peoples blogs pretty religiously & i happened upon a post that showed rachel, from heart of light renovating an old 2-drawer dresser. well i, in fact, have a rather ugly dresser that i decided i would also paint. i did not think to take a picture before i began the renovation process, but i borrowed rachel's picture of hers because mine looks very similar. (i hope she does not mind...)
see here -
i have chosen yellow as the main color of the dresser & will probably follow rachel's lead & paint the insides of the drawer some equally bright color. i have finished putting two coats of paint on the main part of the dresser & will post a picture later tonight. the drawers will take some more time as i like the color of the handles, so i need to take a smaller paint brush & paint with the yellow around the detailing. final pictures to come at some point...
